Thank you for your interest in our experience at your center. I have to tell you that we were completely impressed with everything. Every step in the process was so easy and your facilities are wonderful. Everyone on your team was so nice. It is clear that you all pay attention to every detail in order to put your patients at ease, and it works. The day of the surgery, I wasn't nervous at all.
Since I don't speak a bit of Spanish, I did have a little bit of trouble communicating with the nurse that spent the night with us. She definitely did a better job with English than I did with Spanish, but I did not always feel like I was understanding her. In particular, I was not sure how often and how many times I was suppose to use the breathing apparatus. So, maybe someone could either teach her how to explain that apparatus in English or maybe there could be some written instructions regarding post-op requirements, i.e., walking, the breathing apparatus, and anything else you feel the patient should do that evening. After thinking about it a lot, that is the only constructive input I can give you -- you have a great program from start to finish. In fact, my Mom wants to come down to your clinic and have it done. I'm trying to make sure she gets as informed as possible, but she is anxious to get it done soon.
We also appreciated so much the absolute kindness you showed my husband. He is very fond of all of you and was equally impressed with your program, facilities, and staff. He really enjoyed watching the lap-band procedures and the fills the next day. He said he learned a lot!! He was also very grateful for the incredible dinner with you all. Sharing the Mexican cuisine, the Mariachi band, cigars, Tequila, and great conversation with you all is something he appreciated so much and will never forget.
I'm so glad you had the vision to do lower BMIs. I think the United State has absolutely the wrong idea about that -- it is so smart to offer it before people get deathly ill -- literally. I am two weeks post op and I get why people say it is not the easy way out -- it isn't. The liquid diet is hard, but it's amazing to recognize the behavioral changes it forces. I'm sure glad I've had a couple of really busy weeks to keep my mind off of it!!
