Chief of Anesthesia
Dr. Sanmiguel graduated from the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon’s school of medicine where he specialzed in anesthesiology and anesthesia in traumatic surgery. An experienced anesthesiologist, he has participated in more than 4,000 surgeries for aesthetic body contouring and is considered a pioneer in the innovative use of epidural techniques for liposuction and abdominoplasty. He has served as the anesthesiologist for more than 2,000 cases of gastric banding (lap band) surgery, using the laryngeal mask as an easy and safe method for general anesthesia in obese patients.
Dr. Sanmiguel, a Pain Clinic graduate of Hospital General de Mexico Secretary of Health, regularly offers his services for humanitarian purposes such as international clinics for surgical correction of cleft palates and corrective orthopedic sequelae of polio. He was the featured presenter at a workshop on epidural anesthesia in surgery of the upper abdomen and chest in Cienfuegos, Cuba.
