Anesthesiologist
Dr. Velasco serves as a lead anesthesiologist at the Obesity Control Center and has participated in more than 2,600 bariatric surgeries. He received his medical degree in 2002 and was Board Certified in anesthesia in 2007. He is also considered an expert anesthesiologist in the unique specialty of high-risk pregnancy patients.
Over the years he has specialized in bariatric anesthesia and is highly trained in the use of laryngeal mask devices. Along with this work he has performed more than 3,500 caesarean deliveries, 500 of which were considered high-risk, and over 3,000 laparoscopic surgeries. Dr. Velasco is certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support as well.
As a published author in the field of safety for laryngeal mask in obesity patients, he also serves as lead communicator in the area of anesthesiology for the hospital.
