Is the Tummy Tuck Surgery Really Painful?

After Weight Loss Cosmetic SurgeryIs the Tummy Tuck Surgery Really Painful?

Why is every one afraid of cosmetic surgery?

Many patients after massive weight loss after bariatric surgery wish to eliminate excess skin and improve their body contour. However, the majority is “afraid” of this surgery because of the pain they think they might feel.

In my experience, as Director of The Ariel Center for Cosmetic Surgery, it is the complete opposite. Ninety nine per cent of our patients exit the Hospital the next day after surgery walking without the need of extreme care. Patients have medications (non narcotics) to control the pain, who the majority say it’s low or moderate. Part of the success in our patients is probably related with the type of anesthesia used in these procedures, which is spinal ascendant anesthesia; that is why patients don’t need to be under general anesthesia and thus recover in less than 5 hours. The team of anesthesiologists in The Ariel Center has more than 25 years of experience in cosmetic surgery, which makes a big difference.

In conclusion, I highly recommend the Tummy Tuck surgery to those patients who have lost a lot of weight after bariatric surgery, given that their self-esteem will incredibly improve and your body will look spectacular!
