Dr. Marcos Castaneda has impacted the bariatric surgery programs at each hospital he’s served. At the Secretariat of Health of the Government of Mexico City, he implemented and developed the first bariatric surgery program in a Mexico City government hospital and performed more than 600 bariatric procedures during the three years he practiced there. He also taught colleagues there, establishing the hospital’s first formal bariatric surgery course. At the ObesCenter Medical Comprehensive Obesity Clinic in Mexico, Dr. Castaneda continued this legacy as the facility’s managing director, performing more than 1,000 bariatric procedures and continuing to instruct his colleagues in surgical techniques.
Dr. Castaneda currently serves as the head of the general surgery service at the Regional Hospital Tlalnepantla ISSEMYM in the State of Mexico. He’s established the facility’s esophageal, hernia, and bariatric surgery programs, as well as the Minimally Invasive Surgery Advanced Program, where he trains fellow surgeons in minimally invasive surgical techniques.
