I started looking into weight loss surgery about a year before I took the initiative and booked a surgery date with OCC. I carried out a lot of research about weight loss surgery itself along with some of the other facilities that offered the surgery, I started my reach online, asking people questions that had already gone to Mexico for weight loss surgery. After I did my research, I came to the sense that OCC was the best place that I felt most comfortable and confident in attending for weight loss surgery. I had a family member who travelled to OCC a few years prior and highly recommended their facility. So,my wife and I decided to book in late October 2019 for a surgery date of April 2020.
Well, we all know what happened in March of 2020 and of course our surgery was canceled and rebooked for June 2020, believe it or not this date was also canceled and rescheduled for September 2020. Unfortunately, we were unable to get flights from Canada to California and from California with the original air line we booked with and had to reschedule once again. By this time, I was so frustrated that I was thinking about just cancelling all together, but I did not, and we rebooked with a different airline for October2020. My wife and I flew in a few days before our surgery as per COVID-19 pre-screening. Finally, my wife and I both had sleeve surgery on October 26, 2020.
I was 245lbs the morning of the surgery. The surgery and the recovery process went extremely well for my wife and I both, from the liquid stage and getting back to eating solid foods again. Today my current weight is 180lbs with a total loss of 105lbs. I had lost 40 lbs pre-op and 65lbs post-op. I could not be happier and more pleased to have had OCChelp me and give me the tool that I needed to achieve my weight loss goal. The OCC team is there for you and with you every step of the way from the beginning when you book your surgery date, still to this day OCC checks in with me and I cannot thank them enough for that. OCC has given myself and my wife the highest quality of care a person could ask for both before and after surgery. OCC definitely goes above and beyond for their patients. The only regret I have is not having the surgery sooner than what I did. Once again, I would like to thank Dr Ortiz and the entire staff at OCC for everything they have done for me and really making me feel like part of the OCC family.
