The OCC has been an amazing experience for me. I have now had 2 surgeries there and referred several friends to Dr. Ortiz.
Deciding to want to have a gastric sleeve done was extremely difficult, especially when my insurance in the US said that it was “cosmetic” and that I was not obese enough to qualify to have it done under insurance. I was 315 lbs, maybe more, because until I found the OCC I didn’t dare step on a scale. My friend went to Dr. Ortiz first and I actually tried to talk her out of it because Americans make surgery sound dangerous down in Mexico. I pleaded with her not to go, but she knew way more than I did and was extremely successful with her sleeve, so I followed suit. In October of 2019 I had the VSG done and the process was extremely easy. OCC made sure that everything was set up for you and that it would all go smoothly from crossing the border to booking the hotel. Also the hotel is aware of your surgery and has special broth, yogurt, and popsicles for you to eat pre and post op. They shuttle you back and forth from the hospital and day of the surgery everything is explained to you and extremely clear. You stay over night for one night and then you get to go back to the hotel. Everything is extremely simple. The same goes for my abdominoplasty, liposuction and BBL. Ora made sure that everything was set up and simple for us, the driver was at the airport within 5 mins of our arrival, and it took 10 mins or less to cross the actual border. Then, once in TJ I met with Dr. Ampudia, and had my blood work done, then got to go to the hotel. Surgery day, they made sure I was 100% in the know of everything going on, and drew out everything on my body. The recovery from this surgery was much harder than the VSG I have to say. That said, the doctors were simply amazing in helping. I couldn’t get comfortable at the hotel and passed out once (it’s normal) from removing the body suit and OCC immediately sent over a doctor. She showed us how to set up the bed to help with supporting my back and my legs to make it more comfortable and explained why I fainted. Then, another time I was really concerned about my drain, and that a stitch had come out, so Dr. Ampudia himself came to the hotel and looked at the drain even though it was 8pm at night. My experience at OCC has been more than amazing. From the doctors to the nurses to even the front desk, it has truly been amazing. I am so thankful for OCC because they changed my life, Lucia changed how I eat and how I viewed food. Dr. Ortiz legitimately saved me from a life time of hardships and medical issues. Dr. Ampudia took all my hard work and gave me the dream body that I’ve worked so hard to have. I am extremely thankful for OCC and will always recommend them to anyone!
