I’ve struggled with my weight my entire adult life. At my heaviest, I was 439 pounds. Pre diabetic, cholesterol and blood pressure creeping up, on antidepressants, had ovarian cysts, migraines, and looking at a total knee replacement… and I’m not even 40 yet. I researched for over a year, and Dr. Ortiz, Dr. Martinez, and the OCC family stood out above all, and I took the first step towards a new life. From the very first interaction with my coordinator to the van ride, the hotel, the attention to detail, the surgery, the recovery, everything was smooth like clockwork and I felt safe and well taken care of every step of the way. Being a nurse myself, I was watching everything and was so impressed with everyone. My procedure was October 28, 2021. With the help of their dietitian, I’ve learned how to fuel my body and how to listen to what it needs. I’ve learned to love the gym again. I am 5’10” with a current weight of 205. My goal is 175. I went from a size 26/28W pants, 4-5xl top and a 48DD bra to a 12/14 jeans, a Medium top, and a 36B. I am no longer pre diabetic, my blood pressure and cholesterol are perfect, no antidepressants, no inhaler use, and while my knee is still shot and will need replacing I am able to push it off for a while longer. Ovarian cyst and migraines have left as well. OCC literally saved my life. If I had to do it all over again the only thing I would change is doing it sooner. My next step after hitting my goal is plastics at The Ariel Center. I can never thank this team enough for doing what they do!
