My name is Terry. I have struggled with weight for most of my life, always on the yo-yo. Graduating high school at 225 going up to 290 by 30 then down to 230 for a few years while powerlifting, then back up to 325. That’s when the medical problems started: sleep apnea, a knee replacement at 42, by age 49 I had a hard time walking without breathing hard and running out of energy, avoiding doing anything that included walking or standing very much. Even at 49 thinking to myself that I should get things together because I probably wouldn’t make another 5 years. I looked into surgery more than once but never did anything about it. Then I was taken to a guy at work whose wife had gone to OCC and a year later he did. I just watched them both become so healthy and lose weight. I asked him tons of questions about it and finally in January 2020 sent my deposit and scheduled for March 11th. I was so scared to do it, but it truly was my last hope to stay alive. That was the day my life changed OCC instantly started helping me start my journey to a better me. I lost 40 pounds by the surgery date. The surgery went great, came home a day early and back to work in 2 weeks. I followed the program and used the tool I had been given so The weight just started melting away. I started doing more and more things the more the weight came off and my whole demeanor changed. I now go out and do things I never thought I’d do again, my biggest highlight is now knowing I will be the husband, father and grandpa my family deserves for a long time. If I could give any advice to those trying to make the decision it would be do it before it’s to late don’t wait like I did and for those that have made the decision to do it get to know the people that you have surgery with, I still talk with 4 of the 5 women that were on the same day it truly gives you someone to talk to that is going through the same changes and struggles you are. Finally I’d like to thank my family, my sleeve family and OCC for being in my corner and giving me my life back.
