My weight started to yo-yo out of control in my mid-thirties after I had my child. I lost all of the baby weight I had gained and then something shifted in me and I don’t know what it was. I started to eat. A lot but always in private so when I ballooned out to 225 in the course of a year I knew that I was in trouble. I looked at myself in the mirror and literally didn’t recognize the person looking back at me. I was on high bloom pressure medication and was heading towards diabetes. When I went to OCC I went there specifically because of the doctors there. I was not disappointed. They are incredibly realistic and told me that it would be incredibly challenging for me to get below 160 pounds because that was the lowest I had been in the 5 years prior to surgery. And then came decision time, I knew that there were things I was going to have to give up, such as sparking water and that was challenging for me. At the end of the day I realized that I wanted my health more than anything so I could be around for my daughter. People ask me if there is anything I regret and, truthfully, there is only one thing. The day I went in for surgery I was offered the option to have my stomach tissue evaluated and I did not. Within 48 hours of my gastric sleeve surgery I was completely off of my high blood pressure medication. Today I weigh 129 pounds and I am over 2 1/2 years post surgery. I wouldn’t change a thing, I’m so grateful to OCC for helping me get my life back!
