After having been diagnosed with a left bundle branch block in my heart, I knew I had to do something. I was also diabetic, had a fatty liver and osteopenia. My heaviest weight recorded was 252. I have tried for many years to get it off by walking, swimming and dieting. I would lose 15 to 20 pounds but could not keep up with the regimen. My feet and back hurt and I didn’t have the energy to play with my grandchildren. I checked into having the sleeve on her in the states, but things were against me. 1. My insurance didn’t pay for weight loss surgery. 2. I didn’t want to wait a year for the procedure. 3. I also didn’t want to go to a psychiatrist prior to surgery. I had heard about OCC and Dr. Ortiz by my niece who had the procedure done at OCC. I did my research and read so many posts and comments. I made my mind up and chose OCC because of the expertise and accreditation of the doctors. It was the best decision for me. I’m currently down 80 pounds. I met my goal, but gained 1.8 pounds back. I know I can get back to goal and I'm work to lose 10 more pounds. One main goal I had was to be able to ride a rollercoaster with my granddaughter. I’m happy to say, I reached that goal. It felt so good to sit down in that seat and not worry if the seatbelt would reach around me. If you are on the fence about having this surgery, forget it and just do it. I don’t regret it and would do it again.
