Having the combined experience of helping more than 11,000 patients and the experience of overcoming her own health problems, Lucia Chavez’s professional recommendations address the root cause of challenging health conditions in a practical and sustainable way in order to recover health.
Lucía is a Certified Nutritionist who graduated from Universidad Iberomericana with honors and is the recipient of the University Medal of Merit. Her interests include gastrointestinal disorders, women’s health, and autoimmune conditions.
She has studied postgraduate courses in the Perioperative Management of the Bariatric Surgery Patient; Functional Foods and Dietary Supplements for Cancer Prevention and Treatment; Digestive Disease Care; Exercise, Supplementation, and Hydration; among many others. She also obtained a Diploma in Bariatric Nutrition from Colegio Mexicano de Cirugía para la Obesidad y Enfermedades Metabólicas (Metabolic and Obesity Surgery Mexican Association). In addition, she has training in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) to help motivate and educate her patients.
Lucía is a professor at her alma mater, Universidad Iberoamericana, a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly ADA), as well as a member of the practice group Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine. She is also a member of the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy, the Institute of Functional Medicine in the US, and Colegio Mexicano de Nutriólogos in Mexico. She is a founding member of the Association of Nutritionists and Dietitians of Baja California and a frequent conference speaker at medical and nutrition conferences.
Lucía is the first nutritionist certified by IFNA in Mexico. The Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy (IFNA), in an educational partnership with the Institute of Functional Medicine, is a clinician training program for registered dietitian nutritionists and other nutrition professionals. The IFNA’s emerging medical nutrition model combines evidence-based science, clinical wisdom, and critical thinking for the advanced practice of a personalized nutrition care process.
At Obesity Control Center, she provides counseling for weight and metabolic management in surgical and non-surgical patients.
